Midnight Snack Vol. 41
Brooklyn Anna Delvey, Heidi Montag's a Video Vixen, Moon Boot Alts & More!
Hello Night Crawlers,
Welcome to Vol. 41 of The Nocturnal: Midnight Snack. I realize I’ve TOTALLY been slacking on recording the audio version of this newsletter, but starting tomorrow AM all weekly editions will come with a voiceover read-a-long so your busy selves can indulge on the fly.
I was going to attempt to watch Emilia Perez tonight (I’m SO CURIOUS because clips like this and headlines like this just DO NOT align) but ended up swapping it for Scream VI (which, 3 minutes in, they’re already up to their old antics so I’m IN).
Now let’s get into this week’s recs for what to See, Listen, Talk, Taste, & Shop:
See: 2 Music Videos Worth Watching
If you haven’t heard Heidi Montag’s resurged bop, “I’ll do it,”, you probably aren’t on tiktok that much because it’s ALL OVER. And it had me wondering, how did we miss this absolute banger when she dropped it in 2010???
Well, smartly aiming to capitalize on her tiktok resurgence (“I’ll Do It” started buzzing on the app in 2023), she recently made a music video to re-release the single and I am SO here for it:
Next, I caught a clip of Margaret Qualley dancing in a Bleachers music video on instagram (for their 2024 track “Tiny Moves”) and immediately had to go watch the whole thing. How did I miss this choreography?!
Listen: You’ll Never Believe Me
Did you know that before Anna Delvey, there was a hipster scammer roaming around Williamsburg? Last Sunday I had to pick up a copy of an actual paper for a work thing (and for the record, finding a print copy of the NYT if you are not a subscriber is NOT easy, but pro tip: Grand Central’s newsstand DOES carry them if you are ever in need), so I decided to flip through the Style & Culture section and this article caught my attention:
I LOVE a good scandal, so was super intrigued and immediately found the book on audible and purchased it. I just started it today, and it’s already a very intriguing listen.
The plot synopsis chat gpt gave me reeks of MAJOR drama, too:
“In You'll Never Believe Me, Kari Ferrell reveals her wild journey from a rebellious Mormon teen to the notorious "Hipster Grifter," conning her way through New York's indie scene with fake cancer stories, bad checks, and bold lies. This raw, darkly funny memoir explores her life of deception, media infamy, and her struggle to rebuild after hitting rock bottom.”
Now, I don’t LOVE supporting criminals by buying their work, but I’m hoping she’s already paid back the people she deceived??? Will keep you posted and you can check it out here.
Talk: How Many Points Are You Wearing?
I don’t have a ton to say tonight (brain fryyyyyy) so want to point you to a substack friend of mine, Kelly Willams of the Midimalist, and her very interesting post about the outfit points system trend. Including a little snippet but go read the whole thing here.
Is this ensemble 7? 2 for the coat, 2 for the boots (fur!), 2 for the bag (shearling??) 1 for the leggings?
Taste: My (Healthy?) Homemade Hot Chocolate
The Nocturnal Hot Chocolate Elixir
Ingredients
1 pack LMNT chocolate salt powder
1 cup boiling water
3 tbp heavy cream
Instructions
Boil the water
Place caramel into a mug and pour boiling water in, leaving room for the cream
Add LMNT packet
Add heavy cream
STIR!
Let cool a bit and enjoy!
Also, the aforementioned caramel is ANOTHER super addicting chocolate confection from Whole Foods. I cannot stop eating these, thus I may have to stop buying them (alike the toffee I warned you about here), but I’ll share bc maybe you have some self control:
Try at your own risk!!!
Shop: Exquisite Fabrics & Cool (Non Moon Boot) Snow Boots
I stopped short when I saw this Isabel Marant dress at Saks in Boston last week. The color, the incredible boucle knit fabric. The simple yet sexy silhouette. It’s ALL perfection. Unfortunately, it’s $1390. But I’m still adding it to my wishlist.

Now, no hate to MOON BOOTS at all. To be clear, two of my all-time favorite snow boots I’ve owned were MOON BOOTS:
However, their weird sizing (each size spans 1.5 sizes ie 8-9.5 is ONE SIZE) makes them a little tough to walk around in for long periods of time, so I’ve been on the prowl for something as cute but a little more custom in terms of sizing. I’ve also been really into the shorty version of these boots, so found a bevy of fun options:
Pajar Galaxy Waterproof Snow Boot
Flufie Shiny Pillow Boots (in so many colors!!!)
Alright dear Vampires, I must leave you now.
Stay hungry and restless!
See you next Sunday ;)
xoxo

Ok as a Nocturnal Obsessee™️ I was freaking THRILLED to read that you liked Outfit Math. And BTW I think it’s an 8 point outfit, 2 for boots, 1 for pants, 2 for jacket, 1 for belt, 1 turtleneck underneath (?) and 1 for the bag (but it could be 2!)
Because you turned me on to Aquamarine’s choreo I obviously have to watch Tiny Moves 12 more times to start loving it too.
